Sludge fields dewatering, Vodokanal St Petersburg

ALEBRO dosing system Vodokanal St Petersburg

Many years ago several sludge fields were created in the surrounding area of St Petersburg in order to store municipal and industrial sludge temporarily. As they had detrimental effects on the environment the government of St Petersburg decided to dewater the fields immediately.

In September 2009, we delivered with our Russian partner and main contractor New Technologies Plusdosing systems for stabilization of sludge, heavy metal separation and deodorisation and installed them in the mobile drainage system "Ecotrain". In addition to that, we automated the dewatering process.

After the sludge has been transported from the sludge fields to the intermediate tank it is treated with different chemicals in order to achieve stabilisation and deodorisation. Then, the prepared sludge is piped into the textile filter drain by two feed pumps (feed capacity 350 m3/h each). At the same time the polyelectrolyte is added. Afterwards it is dewatered gravimetrically in the textile filter drains. As dry substance it is prepared for further uses.

Scope of services:

  • Dosing system on basis of diaphragm dosing and eccentric screw pumps
  • Complete pipe installation of sludge feed pumps, pipeworks from stainless steel and PEHD.
  • Control panel and automation of the complete dewatering process.
  • Installation and commissioning of the dewatering system.
